Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how ClipScout (“ClipScout,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use clipscout.io, create an account, search for or watch media, save content, contact us, or use related ClipScout services.

Third-party video and media services have their own privacy practices. Their policies—not this one—apply when you interact directly with them or when a provider-hosted fallback player is used.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: display name, username, email address or mobile number, password hash, account role, and profile preferences.
• Library and community information: playlists, likes, saved channels, comments, and other choices you save.
• Communications: information included in support, privacy, partnership, press, or other messages you send us.

Information generated through use

• Activity: search history, watch history, saved media, player preferences, and related timestamps.
• Technical and security data: session identifiers, request identifiers, IP address, browser or device details, error data, and security diagnostics that may be received by our servers and hosting providers.
• Administrative records: administrator actions, invitations, account-status changes, and media-download audit details.

Cookies and similar storage

ClipScout uses an essential, HTTP-only session cookie to keep members signed in and protect account access. We may also use browser storage for functional interface state, such as player or navigation preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve ClipScout; authenticate and manage accounts; deliver search, playback, playlists, comments, and member features; remember preferences; respond to messages; detect abuse and security incidents; enforce our Terms; and comply with legal obligations.

Search terms and media identifiers may be sent from ClipScout’s servers to supported media providers so results and playback can be resolved. If a provider-hosted fallback player is necessary, that provider may receive technical information from your browser under its own policy.

When information is shared

We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:

• Service providers that support hosting, database, email, text-message, security, and infrastructure functions under appropriate restrictions.
• Media providers when needed to search for, resolve, or play requested content.
• Authorities or affected parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, and the integrity of ClipScout.
• A successor organization in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Retention and security

We retain account and library information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Contact messages may remain in our support mailbox. Security, audit, backup, and legal records may be kept for a reasonable period after account deletion when necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or system recovery.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can update eligible profile information in Account settings, clear search history, manage playlists and saved channels, or delete your account. Account deletion removes the account and associated library and activity records from the active service, subject to limited retention described above.

To ask for access, correction, deletion, or another privacy right available where you live, use the Contact page and choose “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

ClipScout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as ClipScout changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through our Contact page or to contact@legionleo.com.
